Bruces Wants to go Faster

$21.6 $27.22
DescriptionThis is a longer picture book, more of an illustrated chapter book for readers aged 9-12ReviewsBooktrailers4kidsandya ~ One of the highlights for me with this book, is that Bruce overcame so many hurdles, and never gave up. Instead he kept striving to be better and faster. And he succeeded. He still remains today as one of New Zealand’s most famous names in the Motorsports industry. There are so many highlights for Bruce that to name them all here would spoil the reading of this wonderful biography. This really is a very special book about overcoming obstacles, daring to dream when the world seems against you, being resilient and believing in yourself.  I do think this is one for teachers to take notice of specially with the excellent glossary at the back. It is a glossary with a difference. Rather than explaining terms in the book, it explains concepts about what it takes to become whatever it is you want to be. Being brave, being ready to start again, change your dreams and mostly never giving up.Perfect for every school library, but also a great gift to give to someone special. An inspiring book encouraging children to believe in themselves.About the Kiwi authorDreydon Sobanja is an Auckland-based athlete and author who enjoys inspiring children by retelling the stories of iconic New Zealanders. In 2013, two books in The Inspirational Kiwis Book Series were published, Jean Dreams of Flying and Ed Climbs a Big Hill. They have both been described by Graeme Beattie on his blog as “charming, inspirational and educational.” Through these books, Dreydon “encourages children to focus on their dreams,” and includes tools and resources on the back pages to help them achieve this.In October 2016, Bruce Wants to go Faster was published as book three in the series. The book provides a biography of Bruce McLaren, with a level of detail suited to 10-12 year old readers and “nostalgic 60s inspired illustrations.” Toni Street praises the book for showing children a “Kiwi example” of “how you can achieve your dreams even when the path seems impossible.”
