Readers will feel for Faelan as he tries to help his friends and as he discovers family secrets that change everything.‘Faelan the Fearless’ is the final book in a trilogy, and is an action-filled, empathic, gripping page turner. I would advise reading the other two books first, as I felt as I missed some understanding of character history by jumping straight to number three (the first two novels are on constant issue in our library).There is lots of great language and “What the buckthorn…?” is my new favourite catchphrase! It is a novel, however readers will appreciate the small chapter illustrations and especially the detailed map at the front where they can see the different territories.This is a book that young readers will enjoy, and be left wondering why there are only three books in the series!About the Kiwi authorJuliette MacIver is an award-winning children’s picture book author of many titles such as the wonderful Marmaduke Duck series, Henry Bob Bobbalich, Grasshoppers Dance and Tom and the Dragon. Juliette has a BA in Linguistics, and Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the Trinity College of London, and is part-way through a Master’s degree, also in linguistics. She lives near Wellington with her husband and four children.
